Our third TOADSTOOL® Amaro, Box-Death Hollow, is based on an old Boonekamp-style “Magenbitters” or stomach bitters. We have named it after the Box-Death Hollow and Wilderness Area, a remote complex of trails, canyons, passes, and forest between Boulder Town and Escalante in South Central Utah (and home to the legendary Hell’s Backbone Bridge).

A rooty low-sugar style , with rhubarb, licorice, zedoary, marshmallow, valerian, galanga, and ginger providing an earthy and spicy base, with aromatic notes featuring saffron and cardamom.

 

Tasting Notes

Nose: Saffron, earth, tart cherry, burnt sugar

Flavor: Butterscotch and baking spice, earth and root, candy apple over witches brew. Moderate bitterness. Long finish with saffron musk and throat warming booziness.

Proof: Bottled at 40% Alcohol / 80 proof. No colors added.
