Our second TOADSTOOL® Amaro, PENNELLEN, emerged from our work with an old “Imperial” style bitters formula. We have named it after the Pennellen Pass, a desert passageway between Mt. Ellen and Mt. Pennell in Utah’s Henry Mountains.

Made with Haitian bitter orange peel, bergamot, clove, bay laurel and carrying a spicy finish from cubeb, allspice, and long pepper, Pennellen is a lighter citrus and spice sytle of amaro. Besides the bitter orange, the bitterness profile is rounded out with cinchona and gentian root.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Citrus, clove, warm spice and bergamot.

Flavor: Bitter orange and baked cookie with clove overlay an earthy gentian and cinchona tonic bitterness, followed by a pepper and warm spice finish.

Proof: Bottled at 40% Alcohol / 80 proof. No colors added.
